Two New Series
C&Ps
likely made
between 1915 and 1960.
These presses are in the basement of the former
National Headquarters for the World Baptist
Mission, earliest mention is 1916. Their
printing house is on a 1916 sanborn map. The
building is destined for demolition.
They may not look too good in these photos, but
from my experience with rusty old presses, both
can be cleaned up and put back into service with
little effort - besides cleaning and removal of
the minimal surface rust - only a few hours'
manual labor and lots of oiling of the bearings.
They will each need new rollers at a cost of
approx $200-$250/set
Both presses are available for $200 to cover
scrap value @ .06/lb = $60 for the 10x15,
$90 for the 12x18.
A trucker is available to move them - at cost.
Presses like these are listed on eBay for
$1,000-2,000.
In my opinion,
they are certainly worth rescuing and putting
back
into service.
